Nails: Manicure Monday - Minx & Deckchair Inspired

Happy Monday! Yes, I know that almost everybody hates Mondays. Today I have a cheerful summer manicure inspired by a Minx pedicure I recently saw and also deckchairs - basically stripes in fun colors.
I used all drugstore brands including my current favourite - 2True. (I can forgive their awful name because all the polishes in their Fast Dry formula that I have tried have been amazing AND they're only £2 each)

I started out with a white base using 2True - Shade 28 which happens to be an excellent white polish. Who knows how many white polishes I've tried unsuccessfully, why is it that white polishes always have awful formulas? This is 3 coats plus Glisten and Glow top coat - 2 coats would have been fine. It also didn't really need top coat but I applied it for striping tape purposes and my impatience to finish this manicure while the sun was out.

Next, I put striping tape at random widths over my nails and doubled it up in a few places to vary the spacing of the stripes. I painted fairly thin coats over the tape; not all of the polishes were opaque so a couple of the stripes look a little patchy. I don't mind it, I like how it turned out! There are a million striping tape tutorials available so I won't bore you but I will offer these essential tips 1) Use tweezers and 2) pull the tape off as soon as you've painted over it or you'll end up with a mess and frown lines. Here are the polishes I used:

L-R: Miss Sporty - Green Whisper, 2True - Shade 1, NYC - Lexington Yellow, 2True - Shade 15, Collection - Lilac Daze, 2True - Shade 17.

I finished by cleaning up my cuticles and added another coat of Glisten and Glow - what do y'all think?
