Here we go, another Memebox! This time it's my first Superbox; Free From Oil & Trouble 3 ($32 + $6.99 shipping). This arrived a couple of weeks ago and I waited to post this as I wanted to try out the products first. Super boxes are different from the regular Memeboxes as they contain only full-sized products catered to specific needs. Each Superbox series comes with it's own theme, designed to target particular concerns. I have oily, acne-prone skin so this box was a no-brainer for me, plus I'd seen the previous Free From Oil & Trouble boxes which looked great. Here's the description from the info card:
"Tired of being a shiny face Cinderella by the time the clock hits 12? Turn down the shine and control excessive sebum with our Free From Oil & Troubles #3! This box is the ultimate go-to box for covering those pesky little pimples, treating blemishes, keeping skin matte all day and soothing troubled yet sensitive skin. Our oil absorbing products are proven to work-fast, so that your skin is left refreshed, smooth, blemish free, and healthy-looking!"
Description: Skin 1004 launched two different cleansers for morning and night to address the skin’s differing needs and conditions. The Morning cleanser combines high concentrates of protective ingredients like argan seed oil and edelweiss extracts for gently cleansing away dead skin cells without dehydrating your skin. The Night cleanser, on the other hand, contains a stronger cleansing formula for getting deep into all of your pore-clogging impurities and makeup residues. It’s also enriched with lavender and lotus extracts for facilitating skin renewal.
Use: Massage the foam cleanser onto your face and rinse off with warm water.
Thoughts: I usually use Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser morning and night and with a Clarisonic 3-5 nights a week. Since this box arrived, I've only been using these cleansers and I have to say, I love them! I really enjoy having a specific formula for a.m. and p.m. - the morning cleanser is much gentler and a milky gel, very refreshing and leaves my skin comfortable - not at all tight. The night cleanser is a clear gel and definitely stronger. Almost immediately when I massage this onto my skin I feel an intense tingle; it's doing something! Both lather really well and have worked great with my Clarisonic. I will warn you though; do not get the night time cleanser in your eyes - it stings really bad! They have similar cirtusy-clean fragrances that I really like, will definitely consider purchasing these when I run out.
Product 2: Milky Dress - Anti-Trouble Body Mist - Full Size 80ml - $23
Description: Get yourself ready for the hot summer with this easy-to-apply anti-trouble mist for your body. Simply spritz on this body mist to treat blemishes and troubles around your back, breast, hip and anywhere else difficult to reach with your hands! With more of your body being exposed in the summer time, real women go beyond facial blemish treatments. Milk Dress’ Anti-Trouble Body Mist promises you the softest, smoothest body line ever!
Use: Shake the bottle well and spray it 2-3 times on areas with body troubles and blemishes.
Thoughts: It's a light, fast-drying mist that smells like rose. Honestly, I thought this would be the product I would use the least but I've been using it most evenings before bed and I have noticed a difference. It smells so good and seems to help calm my skin and heal blemishes very quickly. I'm surprised at how much I like this product and again, will probably pick up another bottle when this is empty. It would be great to take on vacation and to keep in the fridge for extra refreshment.
Product 3: Dermahouse - Pore Tighten Ample - Full Size 30ml - $22
Description: An ampoule specifically meant to treat enlarged pores and suppress the formation of melanin pigments, this Pore Tighten Ample facilitates skin renewal for a cleaner, more elastic skin!
Use: After basic skincare application, apply the ampoule over areas of your face n need of pore tightening and gently pat it in for absorbance.
Thoughts: Not a whole lot to report here, it's a very light milk consistency which seems to do a good job keeping oil at bay. The fragrance is very, very light, sort of citrusy and similar to the night cleanser above. I've used this during the day under make-up and primer; it provides just the right amount of moisture and my skin feels really nice. Have I noticed my pores shrinking? Well, no, but I think everybody over 18 knows that pores do not actually shrink, just tighten temporarily. It's nice, not sure I will re-purchase.
Product 4: Yuri Pibu - Parsley Herb Toner - Full Size 150ml - $23
Description: Containing over 80% of organic parsley extracts, Yuri Pibu’s Parsley Herb Toner is a gentle, moisturizing daily toner for all skin types. It absorbs softly and quickly into the skin and helps maintain a smooth, supple complexion.
Use: Day and night, apply the toner as the first step in your skincare routine.
Thoughts: Well, this is the toner that I thought should have been switched with the one in the Skincare box. It is very gentle and definitely leaves my skin feeling supple and moisturised. There is barely any fragrance to it and it seems like this would be more suitable for every skin type rather than specifically for oily, troubled skin? I have used it a few times and I do like the way it feels but I admit, I've been using the Dewytree one more frequently. Perhaps I will keep this for evenings and use the Dewytree one in the morning alongside the morning/evening cleansers.
Product 5: L'Ocean - Pink Powder - Full Size 20ml - $24
Description: This is a unique spot/blemish treatment consisting of two different layers - the yellow liquid layer on top and the pink powder layer on the bottom. The top layer contains BHA and AHA components which help remove any excess dead skin cells and the bottom powdery layer contains calamine and volcanic ash which work to fight off skin blemishes.
Use: Do not shake the bottle and wait until the two different layers divide. Take a cotton bud and dab it into the pink powdery bottom layer. Apply it on red spots and blemishes, wait until it dries, and then go to bed. It's best used at the end of skincare routine and overnight.
Thoughts: Thank you Memebox; my Mario Badescu Drying Lotion is almost used up so great timing! As far as I can tell, they are pretty similar products. The L'Ocean one smells more strongly of tea tree, is slightly smaller and has entertaining photos on the box. (Unless you got the box with switched out products; in which case you received a Pink Powder twice the size in boring packaging.) Usage wise, it's similar to the Mario Badescu one and the effects are pretty much the same too. Very happy to have this, good choice Memebox!
Product 6: Tosowoong - Silk Touching Powder - Full Size 10g - $34
Description: No need to worry about whether you're a #21, #22 or #23 with this none-colored and none-scented powder. The seemingly white powder will turn translucent when you apply it on your skin and offer a soft, silky texture that'll last the entire day!
Use: Spritz onto fabric, clothes and anywhere else for an instantly refreshing feel.
Thoughts: Well I haven't been spritzing this onto my clothes but I have been using it as a setting powder! It does exactly what it says in the description; it's a translucent powder that leaves a nice, matte-but-not-cakey finish. I really like the packaging of this, looks sleek and clean. It is quite large though, so if you're like me and your face gets oily during the day and you want to take this along, it's not going to fit in a tiny clutch purse. I'm glad to have it and have been alternating it with a loose Kryolan powder and a pressed Nars one.
Overview: A great box with a lot of products I've bee using regularly. I think my favourites are the cleansers and the body mist but I've been working all of them into my skin care routine so there are no duds here. It looks like a bunch of people received different boxes with products 2 and 4 being switched out for a facial mist and a mask, also different packaging on product 5. I think I would have preferred the mask over the toner but otherwise I'm happy! Free From Oil and Trouble 4 has just been released (shipping September 23rd) - most likely I will pick that one up too; hopefully it will contain a primer or a mask!
